We did some research on the similarities, differences, pro and cons of this two project management methods/systems.
Lean project management.
Lean management is the method,
which is concerned with the running of an organization that supports the
concept of continuous development. It
is a long-term approach to work that consistently peruse the achievement of
small and cumulative changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and
quality. Lean project management seeks to eliminate the waste of time and
resources, while improving the quality of the product or service and giving
better value for money to the end customer.
Agile project management.
The management system,
which concerned with the process, in which every project is managed and executed in small parts. Every section is completed, reviewed, critiqued and the project is continued and the project is continued taking into
account the fresh insights gained from the last bit of work The aim of the system is seek to create better decisions and solve issues more effectively with less
wastage of time and resources.
History

Lean project management.
Lean project management is primarily emerged
from the Toyota
Production System, which the motor company began, using in early 1950’s.
The conceptualization
and development of the Toyota Production System (TPS) is ascribed to the two
Japanese businessmen, Taiichi Ohno and Shiego Shingo in 1950. Than in the early
90s James Womack and Daniel Jones had given the concept of lean method in a
series of books – namely The
Machine That Changes the World, Lean Thinking and Lean
Solution, which helped to conceptualize Lean in its present form,
making it possible for organizations to follow a structured approach to become
Lean.
Agile method.
In February 2001, a team met in Chicago for 2 days with a goal to find
a new approach for software development.
The outcome of the meeting was the development of the method which could
reflect the reality of a dynamic software development environment. The
Agile movement seeks alternatives to traditional project management. Extreme Programming, Scrum,
Adaptive software development, Feature driven development and
others – under one roof.
Differences between the agile and lean method.
Furthermore.
The research among 601
development and IT professionals conducted in 2015, shows that nowadays Agile is the primary management approach. In
addition, they mostly use it to enhance collaboration and increase the level of software
quality.
Lean was applied in
the startup industry in 2008 by Eric Reis as a way of
developing “new products and services in circumstances of extreme uncertainty.
